Hi Pretty Polishers! So I have been posting nail polish swatches non-stop since I started this awesome blog three months ago in August, but I have not yet posted about the products I use to take care of these highly photographed nails! Today I am sharing with you the amazing products I use to keep my nails and cuticles healthy, hydrated, and heavenly 🙂
To protect and nourish my cuticles I use the following:
Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle remover, Mango Magic Cuticle Oil, LUSH’s Lemony Flutter, and to finish it off, I hydrate my entire hands with L’Occitane’s Beurre de Karité (Shea Butter hand creme).
1. Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover
So before I started blogging, I used to make a horrible mistake with my cuticles 🙁 I’m almost embarrassed to say… I used to push back my cuticles and then CUT them with a cuticle cutter! Ugh, bad mistake. Luckily now with all the reading and research I’ve been doing about nail care, I quickly learned about Sally Hansen’s amazing Instant Cuticle Remover! This stuff is no joke, so use it exactly as directed. When used properly, it works wonders. Here’s the best way to use it: I remove all nail polish completely from my nails then place this gel along the nail bed of my cuticles. I wait about 15 seconds (no longer than 30 seconds!!!) and then push away using my thumb nail. I do one hand at a time so that it’s easier. After I push them back I wash my hands immediately. Then I dry my nails and remove the little bits left over with the cuticle cutter. I can’t live without it anymore. It is made with chamomile and aloe so it helps soothe nails. I use it once a week and my cuticles look amazeballs 🙂
2. Mango Magic Cuticle Oil
It’s SO important to hydrate your cuticles! Hydrating with oil makes them look perfectly clean and smooth. Before blogging (BB), I never used cuticle oil. They were usually dry and flaky and I never knew how to get rid of the dryness. Cuticle oil came into my life and saved my dry claws. I apply this amazing oil once during the day and then a lavish amount at bed time. I apply more at bedtime so that my cuticles can soak in all the goodness while I sleep. Mango Magic cuticle oil contains natural oils including jojoba oil, soybean oil, sesame seed oil and others. It leaves my nails smelling incredible! There are many excellent cuticle oils, I love trying new ones. So let me know if you have a favorite in the comments below!
3. LUSH Lemony Flutter
This was the first product I ever bought to care for my cuticles. This is a thick butter that is excellent at hydrating. Not to mention it smells delicious! Each batch contains twenty-two pounds of beeswax and cold-pressed avocado oil to moisturize and soften your skin according to LUSH. I usually apply this all over my hands and let my skin drink it 🙂 This product is not only good for cuticles but also good for any severely dry spots on your skin. I usually add it to my knees and elbows about twice a week. It’s a little on the greasy side so it you use a generous amount, you might need to use a towel afterward. A little of this yellow goodness goes a long way! I have very dry skin so I am a thick cream addict! I will usually add this to my cuticles and hands after my fingers soak up the oil.
4. L’Occitane en Provence Shea Butter
When L’Occitane thought of creating a nourishing hydrating creme, they created this Buerre de Karité, heaven in a creme! I absolutely adore this stuff!!! It has 20% Shea Butter and is fantastic for dry skin. That’s ME 🙂 It also includes honey, almond extracts, and coconut oil. Deliciousness! The first time I tried it was in a sample size Sephora sent me with one of my online purchases. Thank goodness they did because I have been hooked ever since. I used up my sample size and then purchased this full size beauty. I use this shea butter cream usually after I’ve applied my cuticle oil and Lemony Flutter. Sometimes I use it in place of Lemony Flutter because it’s not greasy like Lemony Flutter tends to be. I also use it at bedtime and throughout the day. I am in love with this creme. It is my favorite at the moment. Do you have any favorite hand cremes? Please share you goodness with me in the comments below!
Well that pretty much sums up my nail care routine at the moment! Hope you found this helpful! Here’s a list of where you can purchase each product:
