DIY Nail Polish Rack Makeover - The Polished Pursuit

Hey everyone! Along with nail polish I also love DIY projects, makeovers, and flips. My favorite channels consist of HGTV, DIY, and the Travel channel. So a few weeks ago my mom was getting rid of some shelves and the second I saw them I thought to myself ” OMG I could paint those and use them as nail polish racks!” So I grabbed them from her Salvation Army box and began my project!

I have always wanted to display some of my essie polishes in a cute and chic way, so when I saw these shelves I thought they were perfect! This is what they looked like

So all you need for this project is white spray paint:

and some paper to spray paint your shelves on so you don’t get it all over the place. I did my spray painting outdoors of course.

First step is to clean your shelves so that when you paint them, they have a clean smooth surface. Optional step is to use sand paper to smooth out any nicks or unevenness the shelves may have. I should have done this because mine had some lifting in the wood, but I didn’t. It’s ok. I was way too excited to get these hung on my wall with polish!

Second step is to lay down a large piece of paper or newspaper down to protect the surface you’re painting on from getting stained with paint. I did this outdoors on my grass and I used plant potters to hold down the paper because it was super windy.

Third step is to do 2 coats of spray paint on the shelves. I chose white for a clean look but you can paint them whichever color you want!

Fourth step is to let the first coat dry for about an hour or so and then do the second coat. I let the shelves dry over night before flipping them upside down to do the back but you don’t have to wait as long as I did.
