Hi Pretty Polishers! Today I have another edition of DUPES! for you. Since it’s summer time in the USA (that sounded like a Miley Cyrus song or something…) and we have had so many neon collections coming out this year I felt it was OH-SO appropriate to do a highlighter yellow neons comparison.
Yellow Polka Dot Bikini by CHINA GLAZE vs. Glowstick by ORLY
These two look completely identical in the bottle. I see no absolutely no difference other than the bottles themselves. They both look neon, yellow, bright, and in-yo-face!
Let’s take a look at what how they swatch on the nail. I am swatching these two with NO white undies basecoat. This is after 2 coats:
As you can tell, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini by China Glaze is a bit streaker than Glowstick by ORLY. Let’s take a look after 3-4 coats:
I did 3 coats of Glowstick by ORLY and 4 coats of Yellow Polka Dot Bikini by China Glaze. ORLY is definitely more opaque and has a better formula. Here they look pretty equal in opacity, but ORLY is the winner for formula and easy application. They both dried matte so I added a coat of HK Girl top coat. Keep in mind this is with no white undies base coat. The streakiness will be significantly less if there is a white base coat to start.
I also wanted to compare these to Thrill Seeker by ORLY from the Adrenaline Rush collection and Copabikini by Ella + Mila from the Samba collection which I have swatched here. They look pretty different in the bottles with Thrill Seeker leaning more toward a neon green and Copabikini looking like more medium neon yellow.
Let’s take a look at what how they swatch on the nail. This is 3-4 coats:
As you can see, Copabikini is the most sheer of the bunch. It is a jelly polish that needs a white undies base coat. Since I was not applying a white base coat underneath the others I wanted to do a fair comparison. However, Copabikini is gorgeous with a white base coat! I posted a pic on Instagram of this beautiful color here. Thrill Seeker leans a bit more neon green, and the other two look exactly the same with the formula being the big difference.
ORLY is the big winner here. It has by far the best formula on it’s own for a neon from these four. If you are looking for a bright neon yellow polish that you can easy apply, go with ORLY 🙂
Hope you enjoyed this edition of DUPES! What did you think of these? Which one is your fave?
Stay strong in your Pursuit!
