DUPES are some of my favorite blog posts! I love finding two polishes that are exactly the same but from two totally different brands. It’s also great when I prove they aren’t DUPES because that usually means you need both! Today we are comparing YZMA by KL Polish and Sexy Divide by essie.
These are both super gorgeous vampy shimmery eggplant purple beauties. They don’t look exactly the same in the bottle side by side…. Let’s take a look at each one.
YZMA by KL Polish
This is a gorgeous deep blackened purple shimmer. SO so soooo pigmented. I was able to get this opaque in 1 thick coat. I’m in love! This polish is perfect for Halloween. This beauty is from the KL Polish Fall 2018 Collection which I reviewed here.
SEXY DIVIDE by essie
This is a beautiful deep rich purple shimmer. The formula on this one is a bit tricky. It was streaky on the 1st coat. I did 2.5 coats to reach full opacity. It’s super sultry and gorgeous.
It is originally from the Winter 2008 Collection. This is the first time I swatch this polish! And I’ve had it for quite some time.
Now let’s take a look at these side by side:
WOW! Now, these didn’t look this close in the bottles side by side. That’s why I always say it’s best to swatch polish on the nail because it can look very different once dry and with a glossy top coat over it. These are much more similar than I thought they would be. I would say these could pass for DUPES. I wore these two on my nails side by side for an entire day just as they look in the comparison photo and no one noticed I had 2 different polishes on my nails.
Formula-wise KL Polish Yzma is 100% better. It’s a one coater while Sexy Divide is a 2-3 coater. Price-wise KL Polish is $9.50 and essie is $9.

So what do you think? Are these full on DUPES?! They are in my book. Do you own either one of these beauties? What DUPES do you want me to compare next?
