essie Licorice – Color of the Month

Two days in a row!?!?! Yes, it’s me and I’m back again today bringing you essie’s Color of the Month, Licorice.

I missed last month’s color of the month because well, Hurricane Irma decided to rain on my parade (literally) and life got pretty crazy. You can read all about that here. This month things have slowly but surely been getting back to normal. I’m so glad essie picked this classic black polish for their color of the month.

LICORICE

This is a stark black creme. The formula was surprisingly awesome! I thought it was going to be runny, but it totally wasn’t. Applied very easy peasy and was opaque in 2 coats. Buttery, smooth, and super pigmented.

This luscious creme dates back to 1982! It’s such an oldie but goodie. Back in those days, black polish was unheard of so Essie Weingarten decided to create this stark black polish as a Japan exclusive. It was a hit and with reason! After all these years, licorice is an essie staple and part of the classics. If you’re wondering how this compares to Wicked, which is also super dark and vampy, well this one is completely black. Wicked is in reality a deep dark sinister red so it doesn’t get 100% black. Licorice does. It works so well as a base for Halloween nail art. I definitely want to use it for some Halloween nail art this year!

Essie Cosmetics is owned by L’Oréal. The brand has over 250 shades in the permanent collection, plus releases four seasonal color collections and two specialty collections every year. Essie is 3 FREE and sold in drug stores, salons, and beauty supply stores world wide.

Do you own Licorice? If you don’t, it’s one to put on your “to buy” list! What is your fave black polish?
