essie Wicked – Color of the Month

It’s the day before Halloween!!! Eeeeeekkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!! I can’t wait till tomorrow!!! Can you tell?!?! It’s the BEST day of the year. I have my costume ready and can’t wait to dress up. Until then, I’m sharing a perfect Halloween/Fall polish! It also happens to be the essie color of the month. This is Wicked.

I had originally posted this a few years ago in 2015 here under my “Classics” essie polishes. I was really excited when I saw essie picked it as this month’s color of the month.

So I just re-swatched it to have fresh new pics and here is my review:

Wicked is described as a deep and dark creamy sinister red. I like to think it looks like hot fudge chocolate. That’s just me being hungry lol. It does look like a very deep vampy almost-black red. The formula is excellent and has very good coverage on the 1st coat. It applies like a dream and fully opaque in 2 coats. I LOVE this shade. It’s the epitome of Fall.

It looks practically black outdoors and from afar, it’s when you get close that you can see it’s actually a deep, pigmented red. Wicked was first released in 1986. It was one of the very first “black” looking nail polish. No one thought it would sell and many thought Essie Weingarten was crazy for creating a shade so dark. Well, it sold out immediately and today it is still one of essie’s timeless “classics”.

This is definitely one of those staples you must have in your collection. I recently had to pick up a new bottle because my old one was… well, old and done. It was time for a new bottle! Wicked is my go-to dark vampy shade for Fall.

essie is 3 FREE (contains no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde) and can be purchased at drug stores, Target, Amazon, and so many other places like local salons and beauty supply stores. They retail for about $8.50 each.
