Fiery February: Ruby Pumps by China Glaze

Hi loves! It’s the second day of February and I’m bringing back my February Fiery series where I post different shades of red polish that I love throughout the month! I’m kicking off this February Fiery with the stunning Ruby Pumps by China Glaze.

Ruby Pumps is a gorgeous red jelly base filled with beautiful red micro glitter. A classic beauty adored by many. The formula is awesome even though it’s in a jelly base it’s opaque in 2 easy coats.

The funny thing about this polish is that it looks SO different indoors vs. outdoors. I took photos of it in different lighting so you guys can see the difference.

Here it is indoors under my high definition lamp:

Here it is outdoors under direct sunlight (this way it looks just like Dorothy’s slippers):

Here it is outdoors under shade:

All so different right?! That’s what I call a versatile polish. It can change depending on the light and still look so gorgeous no matter what.

I had to do some deep research to find the history on this polish and why it’s so desired. What I ended up finding in the wonderful world of google is that this polish was originally released in the 2001 Wizard of Ohh Ahz Collection. The collection was so desired and so loved that China Glaze actually brought it back for Spring 2010. However, the formulas were a bit different since China Glaze had switched over to 3 FREE by 2010. Nonetheless, Ruby Pumps was still extremely similar to the original formula. Michelle from All Lacquered up has comparisons of the original polishes vs. the newer ones that you can check out here.

I am glad that I finally own this polish even if it’s the re-released version. It’s still close to the original and absolutely stunning! She’s the only one from the WOOA Collection that made it to China Glaze’s core line and I can totally see why. China Glaze is 3-FREE so that means it doesn’t contain Formaldehyde, Toluene, or DBP. China Glaze retails for about $7.50 or less in the US and is sold at Ulta, Sally Beauty Supply, and local beauty supply stores.

Do you own Ruby Pumps? I can’t wait to share more red polishes with you this month!
