Memorial Day Nails 2017

Happy Memorial Day loves! Today in the US we remember the brave men and women who gave up their lives in order to keep our country safe. I decided to do some simple Memorial Day Nails to honor those lives.

I used all essie polishes for this mani including base and top coat! It’s an essie kinda day 🙂

These are the polishes I used (all essie):

All-In-One Base Coat

Red: Fifth Avenue

White: Blanc

Blue: Chills & Thrills

Large Chunky silver glitter: Set in Stones

Small platinum glitter for gradient: Ignite the Night

Gel Setter Top Coat

How to create this look:

It was so easy to do this mani. First off, I painted 2 coats on each nail a different color then once those nails were dry, I used Ignite the Night to do the gradient effect.

I started the gradient by doing a french tip line at the edge of the nail, then I take my brush and wipe off most of the polish. Then I swipe the brush up toward my cuticle creating the gradient effect. It’s quite easy and don’t worry about making a mistake because a gradient isn’t supposed to be perfect or sharp. It’s messy!

Tip: For my ring finger, I used a peel off base coat, applied one coat of Set in Stones and then used a sponge to make the nail completely opaque with glitter. Finally to top it all off I used one of my fave top coats ever, essie’s gel setter. I like the way this turned out.

Essie Cosmetics is owned by L’Oréal. The brand has over 250 shades in the permanent collection, plus releases four seasonal color collections and two specialty collections every year. Essie is 3 FREE and sold in drug stores, salons, and beauty supply stores world wide.

Most of us in the US are off from work today, so if you are off do you have any fun plans for the day? Have a great Memorial Day!
