Throwback Thursday: OPI DS Imperial

Hi lacquered lovelies! Today I’m taking it back a few years to OPI’s Designer Series polishes. This beauty is DS Imperial.

OPI first launched the Designer Series in 2006 with some glitter and holographic polishes that were a sight for sore eyes. I believe they were some of the first “holo” polishes from a mainstream brand so it was a big deal. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know I’m obsessed with collecting as many OPI DS polishes as possible. I usually find these at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for around $5 USD which is a steal because these retail for around $11 USD. I honestly don’t even know if they still make DS polishes, I wanna say they don’t because I have not heard of a new DS collection being released. The last I heard they were releasing 2 at a time in the Fall. So what I do is collect the oldies. Let’s take a look at my latest find.

DS Imperial is a rich magenta violet filled with fine shimmer. First coat is a bit watery and thin, it also dried matte. Once you apply that second coat, whoa does it glimmer! It also has a sultry deepness to it that makes it so gorgeous. It does dry matte so you can leave it as is or apply a glossy top coat.

This beauty is originally from the Fall 2015 Collection so it’s perfect for #TBT! I opted to add the glossy top coat to make the shimmer pop.

OPI is 3 FREE so it doesn’t contain Formaldehyde, Toluene, or DBP. Not all of OPI’s polishes are 3 FREE but it is said that after 2006 all are 3 FREE. It’s best to check labels if you have a concern. OPI is sold at beauty supply stores, Ulta, Target, drugstores, and Amazon or eBay.

Have you tried any polishes from OPI’s Designer Series?
