Today should be a national holiday! It’s October 3rd, Wednesday, so naturally we celebrate that famous line from Mean Girls, “On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was”. If you’re not a Mean Girls fan, you have to watch!!! It’s a great movie and they also made it into a play! Too bad Lindsay Lohan has lost her marbles because she really was a great actress! I hope she gets some help soon because she needs it. Ok so now onto the polish!! Today I’m celebrating and wearing pink of course. I decided to showcase this beauty that’s been in my “to swatch” pile for months now. Let’s take a look at DS Tourmaline by OPI.
DS Tourmaline is a pink crelly base filled with tons of iridescent glitter. Nothing better than a bright pink perfect for the occasion. This was pretty sheer on the first coat. It builds up nicely in two coats and is opaque in three.
You can still see my visible nail line even after 3 coats. This is a true jelly glitter polish.
Originally from the Fall 2014 Collection this DS OPI polish is one of the relatively new ones. The most amazing ones are the ones from the early 2000’s. They are amazing!!! I love all of the glitters and flakies in this color. So stunning outdoors under direct sunlight.
This polish also looks amazing under shade. The iridescent glitters and flakies pop really nicely!
If you want to check out other DS OPI polishes I’ve featured, click here. I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I featured a DS OPI polish. My goal is to collect all of them. They are all special and unique to me. This polish also doubles as a pink polish for breast cancer awareness month!
If you’ve never heard of OPI DS polish, here’s a little background. OPI first launched the Designer Series in 2006 with some glitter and holographic polishes that were a sight for sore eyes. I believe they were some of the first “holo” polishes from a mainstream brand so it was a big deal. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know I’m obsessed with collecting as many OPI DS polishes as possible. I usually find these at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for around $5 USD which is a steal because these retail for around $11 USD. I honestly don’t even know if they still make DS polishes, I wanna say they don’t because I have not heard of a new DS collection being released in a few years. The last I heard they were releasing 2 at a time in the Fall but that was years ago. So what I do is collect the oldies.
I purchased this beauty on Amazon here.
OPI is 3 FREE so it doesn’t contain Formaldehyde, Toluene, or DBP. Not all of OPI’s polishes are 3 FREE but it is said that after 2006 all are 3 FREE. It’s best to check labels if you have a concern. OPI is sold at beauty supply stores, Ulta, Target, drugstores, and Amazon or eBay.
Have you tried any polishes from OPI’s Designer Series? Are you wearing PINK today?
